Short hair!

Meg chose to get her hair cut short today. It was hard for me to watch them cut off all her beautiful soft curls, but I can't believe how darling her new do is!

I told her she looks like the storybook character Madeline and she's decided that will be her new name.

Egg Drop

Megan was excited to participate in the egg drop contest at their school this year. She talked about her plans for days. She ended up using a plastic tub of half eaten frosting with flour to top it off. Then she duck taped the top and proudly wrote her name on the top.

She carried it around with her the whole night excited about seeing it drop from the roof of the school the next day.

Ali decided 15 minutes before school started that she wanted to do one too. She wrapped her egg in play-dough (have to admit was my idea) then packed it up in flour in disposable container and then used about 18 pieces of foam rubber tape to close it tight.
Mattie and I went to the school to check it out. The PTA would drop each packaged egg off the roof of the school and the kid who made it was to run and grab it, take it to the table of volunteers who would unwrap it and find out if it was still whole or not.
I crossed my fingers for Megan. They called her name and dropped it off the roof..

the lid flew off and the flour along with her egg smashed into the concrete.
My heart broke for Megan. She looked so deflated. she'd worked so hard! If only I'd taped it better for her......... I know I know it wasn't my thing but still, I wanted her to succeed SO bad!

soon it was Ali's turn. I knew hers would make it. I was torn.

"Incredibles"

Mattie loves mixing things up in the kitchen. He's so funny though because he calls it Incredibles. He says "mom, I want to do Incredibles" which in translation means "ingredients". I usually hand him things from the fridge or cupboard that are soon to be spoiled. He'll mix anything up. Note the left over mac and cheese to the right. Do we have a future chef in our mix?

Story weavers

Ali went to district for her awesome talent in storytelling. He and her partner were voted by their classmates to present their story in front of the school and their they were voted on to share at the Canyons district story weavers night.

we waited and waited but her partner didnt show.

She was amazing, she went up and did the entire story all by herself. We were so proud of her and she did such a strong job. she was funny, and brilliant and if her partner not showing hadnt disqualified her she'd have won the show.
Taylor was so excited to get to be there too. He'd already taken the night off of UPS for my birthday.
My parents and brother Mike came, as did Troy his girlfriend Melissa, and Kris.

DARE

Ali had DARE graduation today at school.

6 students from the entire 5th grade were chosen to read the essays they'd written .

Ali was one of them! She did such a great job, and when we congratulated her after her speech she said "did I do good?, cuz I was shaking like a Chihuahua". She is so amazing and so funny!

The girls and I had a great time at book club tonight. They made these adorable sock puppets/dolls. I just had to take pictures.

Megs Birthday

BUNNIES!!!

My friend had offered up free bunnies for a month or two but I wasn't interested. I started doing a little research on them and to my surprise started thinking seriously about getting one. Finally I agreed and to the kids delight we drove out to Toelle to pick our newest pet. Being Megan's birthday week she had declared that the Bunnie would be her birthday present. I'd agreed to let her pick her favorite but when we got there she instantly fell in love with a small gold Californian, and Ali and I fell in love with the cutest grey Lion head. In the end I agreed to both of them (with a stipulation of them both being the same gender). We LOVE them and they're already taking over our living room. They love to hop about the room and hide under the couches. They'll eat out of our hands, and love to be snuggled. What an un-expected little surprise they have been.

He suffers from terrible allergies. we've tried three different allergy medications and his poor eyes are still puffy and itchy, and he's sneezing every 30 seconds..
