Halloween Parade

No School Tomorrow.
that means that the Halloween parade was today.
We all got up early to get dressed up, and ready.
Ms. Indian Princess
Ms. Blue Princess....
Megan had insisted since the day we purchased her costume that her hair look exactly like the girl in the picture. She went so far as to bring the picture in and insist I keep looking at it to compare as I was curling her hair. I think I got it just right, but it took a few tries. I tried to get her to let me put ribbons in but since the girl in the picture didn't have any, she absolutely refused them. persistent little thing!
***********************************
The parade was fun to see as always. I love to see the fun costumes the kids (or their parents) come up with. They're so cute.
Megan was all smiles, walking quaintly like a real princess..

Mathew watched curiously....

When Ali came around I could tell that something was wrong.. She wasn't smiling, and I could tell by her face that she wasn't' well.
As awesome as she looked , This face tells it all..

When the parade was over, I went to Ali's classroom to see her. This is how I found her. She finally admitted that she had a bad headache. She was trying so hard to deny it so that she wouldn't miss out on the party. It took some coaxing but I finally convinced her to come home to eat something and take some Tylenol. 1/2 hour later she was back in her classroom partying it up with the rest of her class.

Pumpkin Carving...

We carved Pumpkins tonight. Keena and Astin were supposed to come join us but Mathew has a fever and we didn't want Chandler around him to get sick..
Megan and I painted our pumpkins without cutting into them.. I wasn't interested in scooping guts, and Megan will take ANY opportunity to use paint.
Ali and Taylor carved theirs, and Ali finished hers off with some paint as well.
They all did a really good job, it was fun to watch them be creative in their own ways.
Mattie sat on the floor and stuck Halloween stickers to the floor.
He isn't feeling well so we put him to bed early.

from rags to up do's

More pictures of the unruly curls.. So cute.

(she's listening to her shuffle.. she loves it!)

Fall

The kids and I took a stroll to my parents house today after school.
The weather was just gorgeous.
I took my camera along to play.
*
Last night I put the girls hair in "rags". This morning the curls were terribly unruly. By this afternoon however the curls had relaxed and I was in love with how cute Megan looked.
She looked darling in her sweater and jeans too.
What a little doll.
Isn't this beautiful?
And as usual, Mattie in jammies..

The girls wanted me to take their pictures for their band poster. Aren't they funny? They have big plans for their band. serious plans!

weekend happenings.....

I got called off work, and Taylor Mattie and I drove up the canyon to look at the changing leaves. It was so peaceful and beautiful.
We didn't even get out of our Jammies ... we just got in the car and drove. Mattie loves his daddy.
see the picture below? This is how Taylor has carried Mattie for the last two years.. It looks more and more awkward as Mathew gets bigger.. I made a comment to Taylor about it not looking too comfortable, and he replied "what? its the perfect 'fall in the toilet' position. Whats not comfortable about that?"

when we got home Mattie ran around the backyard while we sat and enjoyed the cool air.

Taylor was eating a raw zucchini out of the garden. He had a big mouthful and he said Mattie look , as he stuck his green covered tongue out. Mattie looked at him disgustedly and said "Daddy! Gross!" We were laughing so hard we had tears. His face was so full of disgust at such a nasty display. It was so funny. (We're his parents, so we can appreciate this kind of story much more than others, I do know this)

McQueen and frozen food.

Mattie and I went to the store to pick up a few things yesterday. While maneuvering through the baby isle his eyes set right onto these.......Lightning McQueen Jammies.
He pulled them off the rack, and immediately set to stripping off his own shirt to replace it with the shirt. I convinced him (about 4 times) to wait until we'd paid for them.. He held them all the way through the store. As soon as we got home again he was trying to pull his shirt off and pulling at his shoes to get his pants off..
He wore them happily for the rest of the day and deep into the night.

**************************

Mattie has a habit lately of helping himself to the freezer. Usually its just for popsicles or frozen waffles. A few days ago however he helped himself to a frozen burrito. last night he came into the living room eating this.
a delicious frozen corn dog.

Sugar

I promised the girls (including the Cason's) last week that we'd make caramel Apples the next time they were here. I imagined us all gathered around the table, dipping our apples, giggling, talking, and pouring our creativity into a perfectly sprinkled treat. In my mind it would take atleast 20 minutes. I melted the caramel and gathered them around..........

23 seconds later they were out the back door
atleast they enjoyed them........

Olivia tried to enjoy hers ,but she was just too tired.

Ali and I went to the Mommy Daughter Cake decorating activity at church. we had decided before we went that we were going to do a pumpkin. pretty simple.. There were alot of really fun cakes made by the group. Ali wants to keep hers till Halloween.. I say another week? Gross!each of the girls received a certificate... Ali's was Most "glowing"...... Huh?

Currently.....................................

I have a bad habit of soaking up the silence while the kids are asleep. The problem is that I SHOULD be sleeping too. More often than not however I refuse to sleep because I'm enjoying my own time . I get sucked into the television, or (currently) the computer. It's nice to have my own time I just wish it were earlier..
I have to 'wake up' in 6 1/2 hours.

weekend, Mattie Mattie Mattie.........

The girls have been gone since Wednesday... Its been unusually quiet around here this weekend. Saturday Taylor and I both had the day off. We drove up to Layton for his nieces birthday party, only to find out that its NEXT Saturday... oh well.. We sat and visited with his Mom for awhile, and I got to watch his 4 nieces compete for my attention.
I was sitting on the stairs in the front room before we left for Layton and I was apparently looking a little sad because Mattie came up to me leaned in and patting my shoulder asked "you okay honey?" He's so cute.
I took this cute picture of Mattie right before we left.
We left for home sometime around 3. a few hours later Keena came over to babysit so that we could go out on the town . I can't remember the last time Taylor and I have been out on a date. We had a gift certificate (thanks to Keena) to a restaurant so dinner was an easy choice. Afterwards we went to the dollar theater to see Journey to the Center of the Earth. A 5 dollar date night! Can't get better than that.
*******************

This morning Mattie found my bracelets on the table. He LOVES my bracelets..

He also loves to climb in the baby entertainer we have out for Chandler. He climbs in and then slides himself all over the room in it laughing and sqealing, while I fear he's going to knock himself out on the hard wood floor. He thinks its especally funny when he chases the dogs . I have to help him out of it, but it doesnt stop him from getting back in ten minutes later.. funny Kid! (notice the car in one hand and the blanket in the other?)
******************************

Around 4 today Craig called and said that they were hanging out at the park right by our house. I threw Mattie in the stroller and we went over to join them. ( Yes he's still in his jammies, I was too, you just can't see me!)
*
We ate their food......

Big cousin mathew had a bug.

Mattie didn't like it.

But the boy's had a soccor ball..

Mattie DID like that!

they also had a football.. He liked that too.

Unlce Craig played catch with him. Here he is teaching him to hold his hands out so that he can catch it.

"oh, You mean like This?"

"Hey Mom, Did you see me? I caught it!"
