- I thought that I needed it to distract my children so I could work. I learned that there are MANY other things to distract them.
- I was used to the background noise. I found that silence is golden.
- I thought that it was entertaining. My kids are funnier.
- I thought my Children would Hate me. They don't even miss it!
- I hoped it would encourage them to spend time together.... Ali was reading Megan a story when I peeked in on them tonight.
that single moment makes it all worth it.
One More week.
Or more?
I'll enjoy the silence.

Jess you are a brave women but I agree, I HATE the TV. We don't watch it much in our house for the same reasons you got rid of it. Way to go.......
Sounds like you should continue the no TV glory and just see what happens.
Wishing that I was right there with you on the no TV challenge.
Good job! It is very, very nice your kids are cooperating!
Hi, I clicked on your name from a comment at The Pioneer Woman. I know that may be weird and random, but that is just how I am. Anyway, I saw the no TV thing you have going on and wanted to let you know that I am a SAHM with 6 kids and we have not had broadcast TV in years. We have DVD'S, etc, but they only turn it on about once a week. I don't have to say "NO" anymore, they just fill there time with reading and crafting and board games, etc. Our house is very peaceful even with 4 teenagers and living in the middle of nowhere on a farm. I think the skills they learn without having the "crutch" of TV entertainment are invaluable. Not to mention the YUCKY kinds of things that are broadcast on TV that you kids will not be exposed to. I am a very strong supporter of no TV! I just thought you might like to hear some support, I know I hear a lot of negative from people about our decision. Good Luck, Cynthia in Tennessee
I think I just noticed something else that we have in common besides no TV when I saw the pictures of your church building at Trunk or Treat and your location and your husbands name. I know that last one is bizarre but I have found it to be very true that A LOT of young men that I meet from Utah are named Taylor and we have a steady supply of young men from Utah...
