Wheeler Farm

What a perfect autumn day to visit the Farm
Mike and Angie joined us with their girls for the afternoon. The weather albeit a bit nippy was much better than it had been all weekend.
I was glad because we had a hankering to spy on farm animals. .
The kids had such a good time running from one pen to another, and then to the pond to check things out. We pretty much let them at it, and only had to warn one of them (Megan of course) to stay out of the water.
Mattie hit the trails running as soon as we got there and didn’t stop. I think being cooped up in the house all weekend made him antsy. He was Hilarious running around pointing and screaming out each thing as if it was the most amazing thing he’d ever seen. He’d lean forward on his tiptoes and scream “LOOOOK! WOOOWW, LOOK,” excitedly. He had us laughing quite a bit. He is so fun to watch.

We planned our little trip around Milking time. We waited our turns and each of the kids got to take a turn sitting on the little stool and trying their hand at it. (I won’t go near the things; I did it once 3 years ago and thought it was disgusting!). I was really proud of Ali for giving it a try this time. Last time she absolutely refused. Megan did a perfect job and I was quite impressed at how fast she got it.

Afterwards the farm hands pointed us in the direction of a Mama Pig and her babies. We got to watch them nurse on their mama. It was so funny to watch them all fight for their place, and I totally get the reference to you “eat like a pig”!

We had so much fun. The kids enjoyed the animals, and I was grateful for family time, spent with good friends.

I “forced” Angie and Mike to sit with their girls on the steps of the old house for a picture. Hopefully they agree it was worth the 5 minutes.

I was indeed fun. I love that the pictures of Mattie show just how active he was in running this was and that. He just couldn't take it all in fast enough.
