A Love Story.........

Yesterday Mathew acquired a little crush on Emmie. He wouldn’t let her out of his sight, and kept asking her to play with him inside while the other girls played out back. “Emmie, come pay”, “Emmie, stay HERE” he would say. Emmie didn’t mind because it was getting cold outside.
Ali had made a batch of brownies and handed a spoon full of batter to Emmie to lick. Mathew was standing there watching her and apparently did not approve. He said “No Emmie! No eat it, it’s cucu!”. He took the spoon from her and pushed it up onto the counter. Then he walked around the counter and standing on his tip toes pulled down a bunch of paper towels. He went right back over to her and wiped her face off. Then he walked over and put the paper towels in the trash. Ali, Emmie and I just stood there laughing. He was so serious about it.
For the next half hour or so Mattie would not let her leave his side. Every time she’d walk a few feet away from him he’d grab her and say “no, Emmie, stay HERE”. Not rudely, but very insistently. I kept coaxing Emmie to walk away so we could see what he’d do, and then we’d giggle.
Emmie ate it up. She loved the attention, and even decided out loud that it would be okay for her to Marry him when they got older because when she was a teenager, he would be too.. That made me laugh so hard, but I thought it was just about the cutest little romance this house has seen since Taylor and I met 5 years ago.
