Principal pride

Reflections......

BEAUTY IS...............................................This is Ali's submission to her schools reflection this year. The theme is as I wrote above "Beauty is". I encouraged both girls to enter this year and after much deliberation Ali chose to do a sculpture and Megan chose to do photography.
Ali used Crayola air dry clay and after a quick lesson from mom on how to make petals, she was on her way.. It took her three weeks to do them all and they got painted two days before the whole thing was due. The rules state that you aren't' to bring in the 3D art but you are supposed to take pictures (only 6-8) and submit them on a disk. They suggest using a ruler, or a coin or something to show the dimension and size of the art. These are the pictures she submitted. She waited anxiously for the judging and I'm proud to say that she won 1st place!
Her work is now heading to District!!!!!!!!
Megan did an awesome job putting together a poster of the pictures she took with my old camera. She went around and took pictures of anything she thought was beautiful. this consisted of (to name just a few of the pics )the sky, the leaves, Mattie, and a few self portraits (which I think is adorable). She did a very good job and got a certificate and ribbon.
She was very disappointed that she didn't win like Ali. I swear their sibling rivalry is horrible but I'm proud of them both for doing such great jobs!

crab apples

We've lived here for almost 7 years, and the crab apple tree in the backyard has meant nothing more to me than a mess of tiny apples to clean up each fall. This year I googled crab apple jelly. I climbed up to the roof and picked three buckets full of the prettiest apples I could find and turned them into this... It's delicious! My neighbor has already asked for her third jar!!
After the huge success I had making peach jam a month ago, I've gained a fondness for making home made delights like this. We've gone through more than half our peach jam already and now I wish I would have made more. Next year I'm making three batches!! and I think I'll try strawberry, and maybe apricot. YUM!
