another update

We just got back from the Dr's office for the 3rd time in 4 days!
When we walked in the Dr met us in the hall and said "thanks so much for coming back, I was worried about this little tyke all evening". His sats are still low at 92% but an improvement none the less. He was happy to see Mathew complaining, and whining because in the office yesterday he was febrile, pale, and lethargic the whole time.
Due to the amount of wheezing he still heard in his lungs he suspects he also has some reactive airway (asthma) issues going on, so he gave him a large dose of steroids, which we'll repeat here at home in 24 hours. We're still doing the breathing treatments but all in all I think things are looking up. We will need to go in again to have his oxygen sats checked on Thursday.
Our Dr said that he was going to call me and check in around 4 this afternoon. I'm really glad that he's following us so closely, Taylor and I were quite worried about him ourselves.

These pics were yesterday afternoon..

Update

Poor Mattie. 2 Hours at the pediatrician's office, and another hour at the radiology dept at St. Marks confirmed Pneumonia.
He is so exhausted from breathing and coughing so hard that he can hardly keep his eyes open, yet when he starts to fall asleep his wracking cough wakes him up.
His sats were 89-91% which is on the low side. He was going to send us up to Primary's to Spend the night but He decided to send us for the xray first, and now we're going to hit him with some major Antibiotics and hopefully avoid the hospital. We have to be back to the clinic first thing in the morning to check his oxygen sats again. PUH-LEASE let the Antibiotics kick in fast.

sick baby

My poor baby is still sick. He's had a fever for two and a half days straight now, even with Tylenol and Motrin every 4 hours he hasn't gone below 99.3. He's coughing so hard that he cries "owie" every time he coughs, and his binky goes flying across the room. We took him to the Dr Friday and he sent us home with a prescription for amox and Xopenex to use in the nebulizer for the wheezing he heard in his lungs.
He only sleeps an hour at a time, so you can imagine how exhausted we all are. Poor Taylor took the 1 a.m. shift last night because I had to work today. (we took turns the night before and I had to call in). I was grateful to come home early today because they were over staffed. I let my little boy fall asleep in my arms, and let my poor husband take a nap.
(Taylor took this pic, before he lied down)
I was cramping up so I slid myself out from behind him. I thought it was so funny that Mattie had the big sofa all to himself, while Taylor was scrunched up in the love seat.

I really hope he starts to get better soon..

Hey look its a schnauzer!

Winnie got the works today at the doggy spa.
They had to cut her really really short because she was so matted from the long winter.. (lesson learned)
My mom thinks she's freezing, so we put on her sweater....
She got back at me by chewing the eyeballs out of my new Webkinz.
Now we're both kind of sad............................................................

Midnight madness

Taylor walked in the door last night holding a ticket in his hand. "guess what this is" he said.
I thought maybe he'd won something from work and shrugged. "this, guarantee's that at midnight tonight, I will get the movie Twilight for you". I didn't have the heart to tell him that I hadn't really planned on buying it..
He explained that he'd been driving home and saw all the action happening at the Dan's by our house. He stopped in to check it out, and there he found Radio station DJ's, games, give aways, and Twilight playing on a projector for all to see. I asked him if he was going back, and he said that he was excited to be able to do that for me. What a sweet heart!
Brooke was over and I thought it would be fun for them to go with him. They were thrilled! I was exhausted from my 59 hours of work this week, so I went to bed.
This morning the girls were wearing gigantic Twilight shirts that they had won. They excitedly told me all about the games they'd won, the friends from school they'd seen, and free popcorn they had consumed. What a fun memory for them to have. I'm so lucky to have such a fun husband who would take three little girls to a Twilight party at midnight to bring me home a movie. He must really love me, especially considering he worked at 7 this morning..

St patricks day.........

Best Friends

Brooke and Ali 6 years ago.....
And now.....

Brooke has become part of our routine every other weekend when the girls are home . It's a given now that on the weekends that they are home, Brooke will spend at least one night with us. I don't mind for the most part. Its hard for the girls to do anything with friends during the week because of the lack of children in our neighborhood. For both of them play dates have to be arranged days in advance and require picking up and dropping off of children that live too far away to walk.
A few weeks back I noticed the girls were bickering a bit, so I decided to give them a distraction. I asked them if they knew of any photographers or journalists that might be able to do a job for me. Of course they were both intrigued. I sent them out with my old camera and asked them to give me a full report of the goings on in our back yard world.
So below, I present to you..... our backyard... from the 9 year old perspective.

Baby Grace

Finally took baby Grace's pictures last night. We had a fun time hanging out, eating Chinese Haystacks, and squishing the baby into funny positions.
So sweet.... a little sepia flavor and we couldn't leave without taking a few pictures of baby Addy. My brother is a "grandpa" at 38 years old. His Step-son Jake's new baby girl.

Spring means bugs........

Megan's love for bugs has spilled over to Mattie.
With all this warm weather the kids have spent literally hours in the backyard uncovering beetles, worms, and bugs galore.
Mattie follows Megan around dutifully watching over her shoulder, and waiting for the discovery Usually he wants nothing to do with the bugs up close, but Megan was able to convince him to hold a worm. Later she found him a huge thick long worm and he stretched it out and squished it up just like the fake plastic gooey ones that we have inside. I wondered if he thought they were one and the same.
I love spring!

Giving their rooms a make over

While looking through old photographs we came upon a picture of my own bedroom when I was about 14. In the picture my walls were covered with pictures from magazines. Ali decided that it was high time her own room got a make over.
Off we went to Wal-mart to purchase two Jonas bros posters, and two Teen bop magazines chock full of her pre-teen favorites. Megan was the lucky recipient of Ali's old posters which included a High school musical, and a Hannah Montana. She also chose a cute puppy poster while at Wal-mart. Taylor and I helped Meg put her pictures up, while Ali carefully selected hers to be put up later on when her best friend was coming over.
There rooms definitely portray own personalities .

Introducing Grace Isabella

My beautiful Niece, born last Tuesday March 3rd at 1:14 pm.
Weighing in at 7 pounds 12 ounces and 20 1/2 in long
unfortunately I came down with this wicked sore throat and nasty cough the day after she was born and haven't seen her since she was an hour old.
I've been waiting for My brother to get me a picture so that I could show her off.
I haven't even had my share of baby time!

Craig is a proud daddy, and Merry is so happy to not be pregnant anymore.

I'm hoping I can shake this nasty sickness soon so I can hold her..

I'm just dying to take her pictures!

We've been passing this crap around for the last few weeks. I walked around and sprayed every light switch and door knob with Lysol today, and have been trying to keep every one's hands clean.

My throat is still hurting pretty bad. I can't even yawn without wincing. The cough is just annoying but seems to not be getting any worse. Mattie is finally sounding better after three weeks of nasty coughing and runny nose. Taylor has had it about the same amount of time.

Ali and I seem to have hit it after everyone else. Hope it doesn't last much longer.
